100 Happy Days: Day 47 Day Out at Ambay Valley.

Happiness is being with the nature.

Just two hours away from the hustle and bustle of crowded Mumbai, you enter a completely different world. Surrounded by natural beauty on all four sides, well maintained big roads with flower beds at the curbs and a river cutting through the city, Ambey valley is a peaceful place where one can spend quiet hours with nature.

There is water sport too. I just went for few hours but came back refreshed.

100 Happy Days: Day 46 hand painted bottles.

Happiness is having friends who have same interest as you.

I love painting and also love recycling things. The combination is always amazing. A useless stuff can be converted to beautiful stuff by just applying few innovative ideas. I hate throwing away thing. Empty boxes, cardboard pieces, used tapes, CD, pins, buckles, beads, pieces of cloth, my cabinet is full of such useless stuff that finds some life whenever my creative mood awakens.

Friend showed me these used bottles that she had painted. I would have done the same thing. With the stroke of acrylic brush paint, she created design on used bottle.

They make pretty presence on her shelf.

100 Happy Days: Day 45 Talkative Children.

Happiness is listening to children’s chatter.

“Look I have got a new CD, it is the latest story of Balram and Krishna, have you heard about them, I know all the stories”

“Come to my house, I have a big TV where we can enjoy watching the film together, in this house there is no CD player.”

“You know I have a toy that runs on battery, I just put the lever and it goes round and round, till you get dizzy”

“You will be amazed at the amount of toys that I have in my house, it reached right up to the ceiling”

“My dad got for me red velvet cake and its taste so yum that you will faint”

Just sit in the company of children and listen to their chatter, its amazing the things they come up with.

Unedited, pure, innocent, non-stop banter.

100 Happy Days: Day 44 Read Meet.

Happiness is sharing your writings with friends.

I am an active member of 'Caferati read meet'. We meet every month and share our prose/poems with friends. Every month, there is a theme to trigger our writing. A positive feedback is given which helps us improve our writings. Read meets have helped me a lot and these are much better than attending an organized workshops.

This week, we met at our friend’s place at Versova. The theme was ‘epistolary’. I have never before attempted this format. I googled to read various writings on this format and then attempted one story. I wrote the story in the series of letters written over one year. I have posted my story ‘Postcard From Spain’ on my blog.

One friend wrote the story in a telephone conversation format, other had email snippets and then there was a story in series of telegram messages, I never knew that story could be told in this format too. It was interesting to listen at different perspective to a common theme.

Well, everyday is a learning experience, and so much joy in exploring new themes.

100 Happy Days: Day 43 Food writers.

Happiness is being in the company of published authors.

I have no idea when my book on ‘Sindhi Regional Cuisine’ will get published. My manuscript is lying with the publishers since last three years. Editing is done, even the cover is confirmed but still I am not sure if my book will ever see the light of the day. The publisher takes too long to print a book. Maybe they don’t have faith in me.

But I feel happy when foodies get their work published. Last month Rushina Ghildiyal got her book ‘A Pinch of This, A Handful of That’ published and this week it was Kunal Kapur with his book “A Chef in Every Home’

I was with two celebrities under one roof! They both were signing each other’s work. Clicking pictures together. Me, an unpublished author, is still waiting for my big day. But I am happy for them.

What a great feeling!!
